Tom Jones' Praise & Blame dropped 2 spots to #7 on the U.K. Albums chart. Kylie Minogue's Aphrodite fell 7 places to #21. Earth, Wind & Fire's The Greatest Hits dropped 7 spots to #24. AC/DC's Iron Man 2 soundtrack re-entered the chart at #29. Guns N' Roses' Greatest Hits entered the chart at #32. Glee Cast's Glee The Music Season One Vol. 1 climbed 3 places to #37.
According to Reuters, John Mellencamp called the Internet the most dangerous invention "since the atomic bomb" at a public seminar at the Grammy Museum on Aug. 17th. "It's destroyed the music business. It's going to destroy the movie business." His new album, No Better Than This, just happens to be coming out this week.
New Kids On The Block have been in talks with Live Nation Entertainment for a joint tour with the Backstreet Boys to launch as early as March 2011. There is even talks of adding a third act (with Boyz II Men on the top of the list.) NKOTB and BSB could even record a single together for the proposed tour.

Rosanne Cash has released her memoir, Composed, which is in stores now and it can be ordered at her website RosanneCash.com. The book, about her finding her voice, isn't her first. Her previous published works include Bodies Of Water and a children's book Penelope Jane: A Fairy's Tale.
Bret Michaels has filed a $5 million lawsuit against concert promoter Michael Banks and Aloha Events for breaching his contract and exposing him to public contempt and ridicule with allegedly defamatory statement about his schedule. Michaels was scheduled to perform in Syracuse on Aug. 5th and, when he got there, found out that the stage and lights weren't set up and... the gig was postponed without his knowledge. The promoter had claimed that the show didn't happen because Michaels was going to appear on TV instead.
According to a recent BraveWords.com interview with Ratt's Steven Pearcy, he's unsure about what Ratt will do after their album cycle concludes. He also alluded to the future of tour mates the Scorpions saying, "Hopefully they won't retire -- there's still chatter of them doing more stuff." Pearcy also announced a new band/project currently called Battering Ramm.
Pink Floyd's contract with EMI covering their post-Dark Side Of The Moon albums ended on June 30th. This has forced iTunes, Amazon's MP3 and other digital download retailers to remove those albums from their stores. The band's management have been searching for a major label to become the home to their full catalogue.
Edie Brickell has joined a new project called The Gaddabouts with Steve Gadd, Pino Palidino and Andy Fairweather-Low. A debut album is expected in January with material that Brickell has been writing over the last decade. Steve Miller will be joining the USC Thornton School of Music for the 2010-2011 school year as a teacher. According to associate dean Chris Sampson, "Clearly, Steve cares deeply about the next generation of musicians and wants to be a part of their growth. His willingness to share his incredible experience with our students will undoubtedly transform their experience."
Sebastian Bach recently told Blabbermouth that he has not plans for a reunion with Skid Row. "I think of Skid Row the same way you might think of picking up your high-school yearbook. You have affection for what happened 30 years ago, but you look at the yearbook and you go, 'Oh, cool,' and you shut it, and it's today."
Cheap Trick recently went into a Los Angeles studio to work on 10 songs with producer Julien Raymond to work on material for their next album. Bassist Tom Petersson told Billboard.com, "That's how it works now. We just do it as it happens, when opportunities come up, just putting together ideas. And once you get 10 of 12 strong things it's like, 'Wow, we have the record!'"

It seems that the medical emergency to Great White vocalist Jack Russell was due to a perforated bowel. The surgery to fix the hole in his bowel was successful and he remains in a Southern California hospital as his condition improves. According to management, for 48 hours there was a question as to if he would live. Meanwhile, Paul Shortino has been brought in for Great White's Swedish show on Sept. 11th.
Nikki Sixx checked in on his MySpace blog to tell fans "...I've been finishing a new book, a new SIXX: A.M. album of songs, a Motley Crue tour, a radio show, press, a clothing line, and let's not forget the most important thing I do in life is being a father of four." He said that the second SIXX: A.M. album is almost finished.
Robyn Hitchcock has released a new Phantom 45, "The Hungry Moment," as a free download at http://www.robynhitchcock.com until Aug. 23rd. The 45 includes the songs "Thank You, Time Girl" and "Violet Rain."
Actress/singer-songwriter Abbey Lincoln [born Anna Marie Woolridge], 80, died in her Manhattan nursing home after suffering deteriorating health for the last few years following open heart surgery in 2007. An official cause of death has not been released. During the 1980s, the jazz vocalist recorded 4 albums (1980's Painted Lady [with Archie Shepp], 1980's Golden Lady, 1983's Talking To The Sun and 1987's Abbey Sings Billie, Vol. 1 & 2.)
Bassist/vocalist Robert Wilson of The Gap Band, 53, died of a heart attack in his Palmdale, California home on Aug. 15th. During the decade, the Gap Band released 8 studio albums and were a mainstay on the U.S. R&B charts with three #1's ("Burn Rubber On Me (Why You Wanna Hurt Me)," "Early In The Morning" and "Outstanding".)
Singer-songwriter Kenny Edwards, 64, lost his battles with prostate cancer and the blood disorder TTP on Aug. 18th. Edwards released only two solo albums (2002's self-titled and 2009's Resurrection Road) but was a collaborator on albums going back to his band The Stone Poneys in 1967 backing Linda Ronstadt. During the 1980s he worked with Ronstadt, Rita Coolidge, Karla Bonoff, Don Henley, Warren Zevon, Stevie Nicks, Ringo Starr and Ronstadt/Dolly Parton/Emmylou Harris.
Vocalist/guitarist Michael Been of The Call, 60, died on Thursday from a heart attack while at the Pukkelpop 2010 music festival in Hasselt, Belgium. Been was working as a sound man for his son's band Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. With The Call, Been released 6 albums during the 1980s which included the hits "The Walls Came Down," "I Still Believe (Great Design)" and "Let The Day Begin." Been also appeared in the 1988 film, The Last Temptation Of Christ, portraying the apostle John.
