Mick Hucknall ("Chains Of Love"), Jools Holland and Ruby Turner ("You Are So Beautiful"), Chris Difford ("What Goes On"), Johnny Marr ("Tendency To Be Free"), Bad Lieutenant ("In The Ghetto") and Ian Brown ("In The Year 2525") have recorded covers of hit songs from 1969 for the charity album, 1969: Key To Change, which benefits the Centrepoint charity. The charity was formed in 1969 and helps homeless youth in the U.K.
Former White Lion frontman Mike Tramp has been working on his new album, 2nd Act, with his band Rock'n'Roll Circuz which is due out next year. During the sessions he recorded a 9-minute tribute to the late Ronnie James Dio. The song, "Hymn To Ronnie," will premiere on Sept. 27th on Eddie Trunk's satellite radio show in the U.S. and Canada and become available as a free download at EddieTrunk.com exclusively for the following week. Tramp will then make it available at MikeTramp.com afterward.
INXS have been sued in New South Wales Supreme Court by Chardonnay Investments , a Virgin Islands-based company that purchased the rights to collect royalties from the airplay of songs of late frontman Michael Hutchence and the use of his image. The lawsuit, against the bandmembers, their management and lawyer, alleges the royalties haven't been paid in full. The suit also seeks a share of profits dating back to 1997 and asks for a partnership between the members be wound up so the royalties could be divided more equally.
Styx are streaming their new album, Regeneration, Volume I, on their official Facebook page. The 7-song EP contains 6 newly recorded classics as well as the new song "Difference In The World." The disc is available exclusively at their concert dates for The Grand Illusion/Pieces Of Eight tour.
Alice In Chains have released a new video for the song, "Lesson Learned," from their latest album, Black Gives Way To Blue. The video, directed by True Blood's Paul Matthaeus, is comprised of over 6,000 still pictures stitched together to create a stop-motion animated video. It's a little more than PG so we won't post it here but you can see it at their link here.
Paul Rodgers recently told the Southwest Times Record that there "will be no further plans for Bad Company beyond dates in Japan. I'm working on new solo material in the studio, and I've got a solo U.K. tour planned later, so I'm just seeing how it goes." Rodgers went on to say, "We aren't putting Bad Company to bed, as they say, but the band definitely is something that will be placed onto the back burner."

Yes, it was probably the worst-kept secret but Fox television has announced that Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez will be joining Randy Jackson as judges on American Idol. One of the lesser-mentioned changes has been a shift away from bringing in mentors and allowing artists to stay within their preferred genre. So you may be hearing less than normal about the show here unless it is something to do with Tyler. Meanwhile, Tyler will release his first solo single, "Love Lies," in Japan on Nov. 24th. The track is the theme song for the live-action film version of the Space Battleship Yamato anime franchise.

Grammy-nominated Los Angeles tenor saxophonist, flautist and clarinetist William Marcel "Buddy" Collette, 89, died on Sunday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after suffering shortness of breath the prior day. Collette worked with many of the jazz greats including Charles Mingus, Dexter Gordon and Chico Hamilton and taught many others. During the 1980s, he recorded on albums by LaToya Jackson, The Whispers, Midnight Star, Frank Sinatra, Buddy Rich, Freddie Hubbard, Barney Kessel, Zoot Sims and David Axelrod. He released his own album, Flute Talk, in 1988.
