Santana's Guitar Heaven debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Robert Plant's Band Of Joy fell 9 places to #14. Michael Franti & Spearhead's The Sound Of Sunshine debuted at #17. Glee Cast's Glee: The Music Volume 3: Showstoppers climbed 4 spots to #27.
George Strait's "The Breath You Take" retained the #85 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
In its second week on the chart, Phil Collins' Going Back has climbed 3 spots to #1 on the U.K. Albums chart. Robert Plant's Band Of Joy fell 2 places to #5. Black Country Communion's self-titled debut entered the chart at #13. Santana's Guitar Heaven debuted at #15. Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark's History Of Modern debuted at #28. Tom Jones' Praise & Blame dropped 13 spots to #30. Kylie Minogue's Aphrodite fell 5 places to #33.
Michael Jackson's final business manager, Tohme Tohme, has asked a judge to unseal detailed financial records from Jackson's estate which he argues could allow him and other creditors to be paid. Tohme filed a claim saying he is entitled to at least $2.3 million from the estate and is entitled to a percentage of revenue from the film This Is It. The former manager claims he negotiated the contracts for the planned concerts and is entitled to 15% of the movie, DVD and album sales revenue. A hearing on the sealed records and Tohme's motion is scheduled for Thursday.
El DeBarge's new studio album, Second Chance, will be released this fall via Geffen/Interscope. Currently, the title track and first single has climbed into the top 20 (at #19) on the Billboard Adult R&B Songs chart.

It seems that a new Beach Boys film project has been picked up and is in development. No, it's not a biopic or documentary but something more akin to Mama Mia! with a story built around the group's hits. Usually, something like this surfacing wouldn't be that noteworthy until it started filming but it seems that Fox 2000 paid a hefty sum for the rights to the project in a bidding war.
First it was David Hasselhoff and now Michael Bolton has been eliminated from this season of Dancing With The Stars.
When you've done 13 soundtracks for Tim Burton films, you might say that there is a trend but thankfully you can say there will be a box set. Warner Bros Records will be releasing a limited-edition collection, The Danny Elfman & Tim Burton 25th Anniversary Music Box, in December. The 16 CDs compiles expansions of the 13 original scores that Elfman composed as well as demos, cut songs, work tapes and other rarities. You can find more info here.
Rock act XYZ plan to film their upcoming performance at Denver's legendary club Bangles on Oct. 22nd for a live DVD and live CD to be called XYZ Live In Denver.
Yngwie Malmsteen will release his new studio album, Relentless, via Rising Foce Records on Nov. 23rd.
Rick Springfield has a new self-penned memoir on the way shortly entitled Late, Late At Night.

Rock vocalist Fiona will be returning to the studio to record a new album due out later next year. James Christian of House Of Lords and Robin Beck reportedly talked her into the comeback and they will work with her on the album.
Brian Eno has been working on his new release, Small Craft On A Milk Sea, that is due out Nov. 2nd via Warp Records. He's made one track, "2 Forms Of Anger," available as a teaser.

The new Sixx: A.M. album is reportedly just a few days from completion. The album will be released in conjunction with Nikki Sixx's new book, This Is Gonna Hurt, which is expected out on Mar. 22nd.
David Bowie has been writing a book called Bowie: Object that collects many items from his archives and gives fans a look at his creative processes.
INXS have announced plans to release their new version of their 1980 hit, "Just Keep Walking," with Australian vocalist/actor Dan Sultan as a single on Monday. The song is the second to surface from their upcoming album that will feature many guest vocalists offering their takes on classic INXS songs. The Ben Harper-fronted version of "Never Tear Us Apart" came out in August.
Well, it seems that there is a reason American Idol may cut back on celebrity guest mentors... they got an official one. Record producer Jimmy Iovine has signed on to mentor the contestants. Iovine is chairman of Interscope-Geffen-A&M Records.
Band leader Max Weinberg has amicably parted ways with Conan O'Brien to focus on his Max Weinberg Big Band -- a 15-piece ensemble that has dates scheduled through 2011.

Lawyers for Motley Crue vocalist Vince Neil appeared in Las Vegas court on Monday as the judge set an Oct. 11th date for follow-up on his DUI and speeding case. No plea has been entered at this time for the event that took place in June.
It seems that Martin Gore and Vince Clarke's collaboration isn't going to be only one song. They've been emailing songs ideas back and forth with the idea of making a dance record. Expect this to take a long time as they are also busy with their other bands and projects.
It was Dec. 6, 1983 and legendary blues guitarist Albert King joined his disciple, Stevie Ray Vaughan, on a Canadian sound stage for the live music television series In Session. The long-sought after video footage from that event will finally be released to the public on Nov. 9th via Stax Records as a deluxe CD/DVD entitled In Session.
Tony Iommi, Ian Gillan, Jon Lord and Nicko McBrain plan to head into the studio to record a new charity single, "Out Of My Mind," to raise money to rebuild an Armenian music school.
According to an interview with the L.A. Times, Trent Reznor has said that he has been "in pre-production with HBO and BBC America to do a miniseries." No word on what the project is but there was talk awhile back about taking his Year Zero album and turning it into film or series. German heavy metal act Sodom will release their new studio album, In War And Pieces, on Jan. 11th via SPV/Steamhammer.
Lou Reed and Dream Theater have been named among the Long Island Music Hall of Fame class of 2010.
Bryan Adams will return on Nov. 16th with a new live album, Bare Bones, to be released via Decca Records. The set was recorded this spring during his Bare Bones tour after fans kept asking for recordings from the new spare arrangements of some of his classic songs.
Despite announcing they were parting ways with vocalist Tony Moore only 9 months ago, Riot have reunited with the singer. The band are currently working on material for their new studio album due out next year.

Tesla's recording studio in Sacramento was devastated by a three-alarm fire on Wednesday morning. Recording equipment, guitars and memorabilia from their career was lost in the blaze. A cause of the fire has not been announced.
According to a post on his website, Zakk Wylde has again been hospitalized for a blood clot. He was admitted on Thursday to a Nebraska hospital.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider will join the Broadway cast of the 80s metal musical, Rock Of Ages, for an 11-week run starting Oct. 11th.
Hopscotch Films have released a trailer for, Lemmy, the long-awaited documentary on Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister. The film premiered in March at the South By Southwest festival.

Shoot Out The Lights, the 1982 6th and final album by husband and wife folk-rock duo Richard and Linda Thompson, will be reissued on Oct. 12th via Rhino Hand Made. This deluxe edition includes the original 8 tracks and 11 previously-unreleased live performances on 2 CDs.
The film, Le Noise, from Neil Young's new album of the same name has debuted exclusively on YouTube. The film features 8 of the songs from the Daniel Lanois-produced album which is in stores now.

Alice Cooper, Bon Jovi, the Beastie Boys, Chic, Neil Diamond, Donovan, Dr. John, J Geils Band, LL Cool J, Darlene Love, Donna Summer, Tom Waits and Laura Nyro have been nominated for induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2011. The list of inductees will be announced in December.
Eagle Records will release Neon Nights: 30 Years Of Heaven & Hell on CD/DVD on Nov. 16th. The set will include their July 30, 2009 performance at the Wacken Open Air festival in Germany. The concert was Ronnie James Dio's last filmed concert appearance before his death.
Blues, R&B and jazz tenor saxophonist Ed Wiley, Jr., 80, died in Garner, North Carolina, after being injured from a fall. Wiley worked with many renowned Texas bluesmen early in his career which would see him touching on many genres. Entering into the 1980s, Wiley had focused on his family only playing in church on Sundays. He would release the gospel album, My Tribute, in 1980 which would include contributions by his wife and two eldest sons. He would continue to release a few gospel albums here and there afterward.
