Former Parliament-Funkadelic guitarist/vocalist Garry Marshall Shider, 56, died on June 16th after a brief battle with cancer. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member suffered from stroke-like symptoms in March and was later diagnosed with brain and lung cancer. During the 80s, Shider recorded albums with Parliament, Funkadelic, George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Incorporated Thang Band. During the last two years, Shider had been working as a composer for albums by Pitbull and
Röyksopp.
